The Selby and District Housing Trust has a Board of Trustees of up to seven volunteer members who meet quarterly and are responsible for the strategic direction and policy of the charity.
At present the Trust Board has 6 members from a variety of professional backgrounds relevant to the work of the charity. Three Trustees are nominated by the Council in accordance with the articles of association and four individuals are appointed or elected by the Trust Board. We currently have one Trustee Vacancy.
Trustees will need to attend the Trust Board Meetings which happen quarterly at the Registered Office in Selby – normally in April, July, October and January.
Some Trustees are also appointed to the Finance and Governance Committee which meets bi-annually – normally in April and October.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with an interest in housing development and the provision and management of affordable housing. We’d also be interested in hearing from people working in a related discipline such as legal or commercial skills to help us move to the next level of development.
This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to society through a charitable trust, for which you will operate at board level, with the primary objective of providing affordable housing for people in need.
New Trustees are given an induction to the Trust which provides on overview of the expectations of them in the role as well as governance arrangements and the latest position on current schemes. New Trustees are also provided with a welcome pack that includes the Articles of Association and the Charity Commission Guidance entitled ‘The Essential Trustee’.
This is a voluntary position but all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
